Do not compare fees by drawing count alone
Two proposals can both say “architectural drawings” while covering very different work. One may include a survey, design options and planning submission; another may only redraw a scheme that has already been decided.
Design + Planning
This stage typically develops the brief, tests design options, prepares the proposal and produces the information needed for the appropriate planning or lawful-development route.
Build-Ready technical design
Technical design adds substantially more coordination. Depending on the project, it can include detailed dimensions, construction build-ups, regulatory information, consultant coordination and drawings suitable for contractor pricing.
Use the scope to compare quotes
Ask what is included, how many design iterations are allowed, whether submission fees or consultant services are separate, and what information you will have at the end of each stage. Our online fee estimator provides an indicative ARCHITRES range before a tailored proposal is prepared.
General guidance only. Planning, Building Regulations and project requirements vary by property and circumstances; project-specific advice should be obtained before relying on a particular route.
