They are more detailed than planning drawings
Planning drawings are primarily used to communicate the proposal for planning purposes. Technical drawings go further into construction build-ups, dimensions, interfaces and regulatory matters.
What might be shown?
The package depends on the project, but can cover walls, roofs, floors, insulation, ventilation, stairs, guarding, fire-safety measures, drainage interfaces, openings and coordination with structural engineering.
Are drawings alone enough?
No single drawing package replaces specialist design where it is required. Structural engineering, energy calculations, drainage design or other specialist information may need to be prepared by the relevant consultant and coordinated with the architectural information.
Why prepare technical information before pricing?
Clearer information reduces the number of assumptions contractors need to make. That can make tender comparisons more meaningful and give the client a better understanding of what has actually been priced.
